Abstract
This issue of separation of Church and State, which has been completely restructuring the fabric of our nation and education system, is a relatively new concept as currently understood. In fact, its very history conveys much insight into the issues of the day. The well-known and oft quoted phrase "separation of Church and State" is usually associated with the Constitution of the United States and the First Amendment, yet the words do not appear even once in the Constitution or in any of the founding documents of our nation, either individually or collectively.
