Abstract
One of the most important decisions in a democracy is the kind of education we want for our children. The concept of public education rests on the assumption that the way we educate our youth is based on the fact we want to provide and hope for a better future.
Much of the debate over education in the United States lies in philosophical differences over how schools should be organized, governed, funded, and operated. An understanding of the distinction between public and private schools in this country is important.
