Abstract
School-based shared decision-making is a system of administration in which the school is the primary unit of decision-making. I believe our students are best served when decisions that affect them are made collaboratively by the adults who are responsible for all aspects of their education. In theory, the teaching staff, administration, and support staff in the school with participation from parents, students, and community members should make all decisions concerning expenditures, curricula, and personnel. The role of the central office should be as a facilitator to the local school while the school board should continue to define and set district policies.
