Abstract
As schools have struggled to "reform" themselves over the last decade, shared decision-making (SDM) has emerged as a central component of the reform overnance structure. Diffusion of decision-making authority among the teaching staff at the school site is frequently equated with the production of quality decisions that guarantee student success. In reality, SDM provides no more assurance that decisions focus on student success than traditional decision-making modes.
