Abstract
Krathwohl (1985) has defined a discipline as an organized field of inquiry which explains a domain using discipline developed theories, constructs and methods. Such an organized field is derived from the results of inquiry conducted by individuals who perceive themselves as scholars of the field. The question of who should be responsible for teacher education is fundamentally a question of who is concerned with research which advances the field of teacher education as a discipline.
