Abstract
If the trend in multicultural education literature were examined, we would find that it received major attention for about 10 years from the late 1960s until the late 1970s. Disappointingly, the attention then declined until the late 1980s. Towards the latter part of the active period just cited, Stanley D. Ivie of Shaw University questioned in the Journal of Teacher Education whether multicultural education was a "boon or boondoggle."
