Abstract
Sensitivity in dealing with cultural diversity in education must begin with general interpersonal sensitivity. As an individual, one must be considerate and "sensitive" to the values and idiosyncrasies of others (Lieberman, 1989). This concept must pervade educators' behavior in the service of others. Indeed, if educators are to be committed to serving all equally, more than a mere awareness of cultural differences is needed: sensitivity to and respect for those differences is needed as well (Anderson, 1989).
