Abstract
Few students enjoy feeling like a faceless number, or worse, a faceless problem to be passed on to someone else. The treatment the student receives from the teacher serves as a blueprint for the student to follow in dealing with others. Will this be a blueprint that builds positive relationships and encourages hard work and the pursuit of new experiences? Students who are not reaching their educational capabilities sit in every classroom, in every school. To address the needs of these students, we must acknowledge that they are not just ESL students, troublemakers, or poor attenders. To serve these students and work toward prevention of educational underachievement, it is important to consider improving performance of all students.
