A Study Of Compatibility Of Fully Formulated Biobased And Conventional Greases

Lou A.T. Honary, University of Northern Iowa

Abstract

The compatibility of fully formulated biobased and conventional greases was studied. Two samples each of three fully formulated greases were studied at different percentages. For soap types, lithium complex, aluminum complex, and calcium complex greases were used. Corresponding commercially available biobased versions of greases with the same soap types were acquired for testing. The grease mixture ranging from 0-100 at selected increments were mixed for testing. The results of the compatibility tests were presented.
