Abstract
A writing center, such as the one at the University of Northern Iowa, is designed to help students improve their writing through tutoring on a one-to-one basis. Most of the tutoring is done by peer tutors who are students with some ability to write themselves, but more importantly, who have demonstrated a willingness and the patience to help others learn as well.
