Abstract

During the month of August, 1924, I spent two weeks at Stambaugh and Iron River, with the forestry students of Iowa State College who were spending the summer working practical forestry problems. The camp was located on Hagerman Lake near the Wells Company lumber camp. The location was ideal for making a study of the forest trees on the one hand, and of the flora of such lakes as Little and Big Hagerman, Bass, Trout, and Long lakes, and the flora of the Brule and Pine rivers and the Iron range with its ferruginous soil.
