Abstract
Symposium participants were assigned to one of four affinity groups working sessions focused on examining the youth development profession. The four groups were color coded and charged with the following: 1) Recognizing the professional image (red) - a public relations tool to describe the components of a youth development profession in a format suitable for a public relations campaign which "sells" the profession to others who need to know about it. 2) Identifying the competencies of the professional - the resume' (blue) to develop a resume' detailing the variety of qualifications of an individual suited for work in the youth development arena 3) Mapping the profession - what does it look like? (yellow) to compose a larger picture of "who" is the youth development professional. 4) Principles and ethics for the field (green) to describe the principles of practice and underlying ethical values that support this field.
