Abstract
When you are preaching to the choir, you know that you are dealing with people who already care. I suspect that much of what you will hear from me today will be things you already know. But as Mary Montie Bacon, a brilliant educator from the California peer helping movement says, "there's some things even the choir needs to hear. That no matter how good we are, how committed we are, even the choir needs to rehearse the tunes, to come together every once in a while to re-inspire one another ....... to re-commit to some of the principles we embrace." And so I hope I will hear a few "Amens", because then I will know that I have touched people and validated what many of you are already doing. But if that is all I hear, I will know that I have not done my job entirely. If, in addition to the "amens", you leave with just a little different vision ... a slightly changed perception of the good work you are doing, or a little deeper commitment to that work ..... then I will have been doubly blessed.
