Abstract
Researchers have examined economic, social, political, and historical implications of immigration throughout U.S. history, but little research has been conducted on everyday communication and the lived experience of immigrant family life in the United States. The current research explores family communication in mid-20th century German immigrant families and their balance between two cultures, demonstrating the complex cultural boundaries between family generations and between families and cultural boundaries themselves.
