Abstract
In order to understand the multiple levels and intersections of meaning and context in my family, this study centered on autoethnographic stories about my experiences with an alcoholic father. It also included reflexive dyadic interviews with my Dad, my Mom, and my younger sister, Anne. Each new interview, autoethnographic story, and reflection added a new angle and dimension to my story. These multiple angles helped me to gain a deeper understanding of growing up and living with an alcoholic father. They allowed me to crystallize my experiences and to break the silence in my family about these difficult moments.
