Abstract
In this article, the author considers some current and future trends that will affect the discipline and education across the lifespan. The author suggests six trends that point toward a greater need for efficient and effective interpersonal and intercultural skills, that will cause an increased need for communication education over time, and that will generate a great recognition of the importance of communication theory and research.
