Abstract

This article explores my introduction into virtual research. In this article I discuss the ethical issues associated with conducting research online, such as whether or not informed consents are necessary, how to obtain them, what kinds of methods are ethical, how to handle data, and how to ensure respondents confidentially. Furthermore, I address both the positive and negative aspects of virtual research, some basic guidelines for institutional Review Boards, and the more current phenomena of online publishing in academic journals.
