Abstract
The project of this paper moves beyond the classic view of free speech in recognizing that there is still a wrong suffered by the victims of hate-speech and in suggesting the right of reply as a remedy for this injustice. I do not think that this solution is adequate, however, not simply because another solution would be better, but because the problem, the systematic character of the injustice suffered (what Jean Francois Lyotard has termed "le differend") has not adequately been accounted for and addressed.
