Abstract
Graceland College, located in a small, rural, southern Iowa town of 1500, is home away from home for 900 students from around the world as well as from numerous subcultures within the United States. Despite the relative isolation of Graceland, the cultural diversity of its student body brings a melting pot atmosphere to an otherwise homogeneous community. To meet the daily communication demands created by a broad range of social and educational situations, both students and community members are called upon to develop increased understanding of cultural differences and sensitivity to the life styles and communication patterns of other cultures.
