Abstract
If there is commitment and determination to succeed, an exemplary theatre arts program is possible in any high school regardless of size, financial resources, or socio-economic backgrounds of the students, because the components of a theatre arts program are already in existence in every school. The six components are student actors, crew members, student audience, faculty director, school faculty and administration, and parents and community members. The observation of Jacques in Shakespeare's As You Like It that "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players . . . '' clearly applies to the lives of most teenagers as they deal with burgeoning values and emerging self-concepts that require an arena in which to test fledgling independence.
