Abstract
Students who are learning to speak may benefit from having an audience who will listen to them, but how much does it benefit the student audience to listen to 100 or more student speeches? In an average basic speech course with 20 students, each making 6 speeches, each student will usually be compelled to listen to 114 speeches by other students. In terms of learning, is that number optimum or merely traditional? Is there a point at which listening to other students speak becomes redundant and self-defeating?
