Abstract
I sadly agree with much of what Ms. Myers writes: there are credibility problems, there are image problems - and the causes are humans. I disagree that interpersonal communication is a vogue. I believe puppetry and improvisation are viable parts of drama courses. However, I, too, wonder how a substance abuse unit was incorporated in a speech course -- on the other hand, I know of one Iowa high school administration that supports a very successful unit on death in an interpersonal course.
