Abstract
Simulations can be a method of surmounting the problems of topic integration and student disinterest in the course itself. Broadly defined, a simulation or game is the creation of a quasi-realistic situation in which students must engage in specified communication activities. Simulations can be tailored to fit the exact course objectives and the interests of the students. Simulations achieve this goal through the careful designing of the rules which govern the types of communication behaviors required of students who participate in the game.
