Abstract
The beginning teacher of speech confronts two primary problems in taking charge of the speech classroom for the first time: 1. the incredibly frightening feeling that he or she will never be able to remember a speech once it is finished, and therefore will have nothing to say about it, and 2. the more theoretical challenge of organizing the speech assignments into a sequence which will not only make some sense but also promote the development of the students as speakers.
