Abstract
The Developmental Conference on Forensics has inspired this study to determine the intended and unintended effects of debate experience on personality development. One of the resolutions adopted by the conference suggests the potential value of such a study: Forensics should be viewed as humanistic education. Forensics educators should provide a wholesome, exciting learning environment in which students are encouraged to develop positive attitudes toward the worth of ideas and toward themselves, other persons, and society at large.
