Abstract

The goals of this exploratory study were to identify mental health and social resources as well as treatment methods which recovering alcoholic adult children of alcoholics (ACOAs) found effective for spiritual recovery. Specific resources (workshops and retreats) and treatment methods (journaling and imagery) were identified as particularly helpful. Emerging themes were self-trust and the interrelationship of spirituality and human behavior. Discussion includes implications for practice.
