Abstract

Keisetsu Chiba, tubist, presented a Graduate Recital on January 26, 1994 at 8:00 p.m. in Russell Hall Auditorium in partial fillment of the Master of Music in Performance Degree. Assisting on the recital were Machiko Sasaki, piano; Dominique Cawley, flute; Sarah Karim, oboe; Aimee Nielsen, clarinet; Carmen Borchardt, bassoon; and Brian Lovig, horn. The program offered works from the Classical era and the twentieth century. The recital included Andante and Rondo from the Concerto for Double Bass in D Major by Antonio Capuzzi, Capriccio for Solo Tuba by Krystof Penderecki, Concertino for Tuba and Orchestra by Eugene Bozza, Introduction and Dance by Josef Edouard Barat and Concertante Suite for Tuba and Woodwind Quintet by Armand Russell. This abstract includes a discussion of the backgrounds and musical ideas of the recital pieces.
