Abstract
A Christian Parent's Guide to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone provides parents with a variety of activities and opportunities for discussing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone through the Christian lens. The guide is founded and supported by educational theorists such as Kohlberg and Piaget and is built on the principle that parents can help their children sort out fantasy and reality and moral issues by discussing literature with their children. Each chapter is broken down into four sections: Bridging the Gap, Talking About It at Home, Scripture Connection, and Activities. Bridging the Gap allows parents and children to sort out fantasy and reality in each chapter. Talking About It at Home provides a chapter passage and discussion questions that probe a moral issue that relates to every day life. Scripture Connection helps children and parents make Christian connections between the chapter and Bible. Bible passages are often used to help parents and children discern if the events of the chapter are Christian. Parents and children are also challenged to connect the events with their own lives, so they can reflect on and strengthen their faith lives. Activities provides families with several options for furthering the fun of the chapter in educational and fun activities.
