Abstract
This qualitative research dives deeply into teacher attrition in Iowa, as keeping teachers in the profession is a major function of the solution to an adequate educational workforce and quality learning experiences for students. Through purposive sampling, six former PK-12 Iowa public school teachers share their experiences from their prior Iowa teaching positions and why they decided to switch career paths before retirement. The former teachers reveal their new working conditions and whether or not they would consider returning to teaching. This study identifies patterns or themes of suggested educational changes to entice former teachers to return to serving Iowa students.
