Abstract

Jenna Skarphol, Mezzo-Soprano, in collaboration with Dr. Andrea Johnson, pianist, and Abigail Moore, Violinist, scheduled her recital at 8:00 pm on Friday, April 24th, 2020 in partial fulfillment of the Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Due to COVID-19 quarantine regulations, she met the alternative requirements provided by her graduate committee instead of presenting a live recital. The repertoire selected for her recital included works by J. S. Bach, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Charles Ives, Gaetano Donizetti, Camille Saint-Saens, Claude Debussy, Poldowski, and Leo Delibes. This document will examine historical context, poetic setting, compositional techniques, and musical interpretation.
