The Department of Military Science offers Leadership courses open to ALL students for elective credit.

Army ROTC is one of the best leadership courses in the country and offers classes you can take as electives within your normal college curriculum. There are multiple courses open to all students with no prior military experience and no requirement to serve in the Army. Being a student at UNI and learning to become a Leader will make your college experience even richer and prepare you for the future. During classes, leadership labs, physical training and field training, you will learn firsthand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups and conduct missions as an Officer in the Army. Army ROTC enhances a Student's education and provides unique educational opportunities by combining leadership and managemnt theory with actual hands-on experience. Classes are focused on developing qualities that are necessary for leadership in a military or civilian careeer: fast and effective decision making, strong vision and goals, confidence and presence, effective communcation, and the ability to influence others towards a common goal by providing purpose, motivation and direction.
